Support the Mt. Mansfield Ski and Snowboard Club (MMSC)
and Mt. Mansfield Education Foundation, Inc (MMEFI)

The primary purpose of the Mt. Mansfield Ski and Snowboard Junior Programs is to provide an environment in which a young athlete will learn the sport of ski racing or snowboarding, in an enjoyable, supportive manner that encourages personal growth and fulfillment, not only as an athlete, but as a human being.

By setting and then achieving realistic but challenging goals, an athlete will learn the reward of hard work, dedication, and self-discipline. It's a complete team effort that involves coach, student, and parents. It is with this spirit of cooperation that the Mt. Mansfield Ski and Snowboard Club Junior Program encourages self-confidence, self-esteem and self-reliance in its participating athletes.

Through Mt. Mansfield Ski and Snowboard Club (MMSC) we invite alumni, parents, and friends to help us make MMSC an even stronger program and financially, more accessible to a wide range of exceptional skiers and riders. We have recently completed a major expansion of our ski-in, ski out club house, which now encompasses over 14,000 square feet of space, including a state-of-the-art dryland facility. Our outdoor training takes place on the slopes of the Stowe Mountain Resort, which is known as the birthplace of eastern skiing.

MMSC's proven success, training facilities, and a strong relationship with the Mount Mansfield Winter Academy (MMWA) continues to attract dedicated top-tier coaches from around the country. Our USSA-certified coaches are routinely considered for coaching honors in Vermont and across the country. All our coaches follow the USSA progression framework, and significant use is made of Dartfish Video Analysis. We continue to have success producing USST members, Division 1(NCAA), and Division 2 (USCSA) athletes.

The combination of teaching excellence and Stowe Mountain Resort terrain produces athletes that not only find success for skiing and riding but also gain a passion for the sport. Our retention rate is among the highest of the competitive ski clubs. Many of our athletes join at young ages and progress throughout high school and post-graduate years. This continuity across age groups creates a unique, supportive environment for the athletes.

Mt. Mansfield Educational Foundation, Inc. (MMEFI)

The mission of the foundation is to support the athletes and programs of MMSC, regardless of discipline, in an effort to control participation costs and general expenses.

"The primary function of this not for profit foundation will be fund raising activities and solicitations. With the creation of the MMSEFI the Board of Directors of the ski club feels that with this fund-raising incentive sufficient funds can be raised to:
• Finance the present race program, and hopefully an expanded program
• To accommodate more young skiers with proper equipment, adequate coaching and other incidentals such as travel expenditure assistance
• To increase interest in competitive skiing proportionally."

The MMEFI has several different funds to support various awards, scholarships and grants, which are awarded annually. The General Scholarship Fund was created to support need-based scholarships and grants to MMSC for equipment and general overhead costs.

MMSC and MMEFI present Named Awards annually. Some of the awards have a monetary value and are funded by private donations, while others are not. However, they all recognize athletes with outstanding qualities.

The newest fund, established in 1999, is The Building Fund. As the name implies these funds go toward paying the debt on the newly built clubhouse.

Need-based scholarships are awarded at the end of October and applications must be requested and returned by October 1 of that year for consideration. The funding for these scholarships comes from proceeds of the MMSC Golf Tournament and private foundations: The Paul Biedermann Fund and The Charles Black Fund.

If you or anyone you know is interested in donating to the MMEFI General Fund or to any of the named funds please contact Igor Vanovac at the Mt.Mansfield Ski & Snowboard Club. He can be reached at (802) 253-7704 ext. 22.
