• Racers need to register by Feb. 17th to be seeded according to last year's Derby results. Newcomers and all others are seeded according to date of registration.

• Snow or weather conditions may determine course route modifications, but in the event the Derby is cancelled, all registration checks will be destroyed!

• All participants must pick up there own race packet and sign a participation agreement of risks form at registration. If under 18 make sure parent or guardian is available to sign for you at registration.

Bib pickup and transportation

Bib pickup is at 8am at Stowe High School.

Long course and Derby Meister buses: Shuttle buses to Mt. Mansfield Base Lodge start at 8:30 am. Derby Meister racers should organize their own transportation back to the mountain for the second leg of the race. Buses not guaranteed.

Short course: Shuttle buses to mass start depart at 8:30 from High School.

ALL RACERS AND SUPPORT MUST PARK AT THE STOWE HIGH SCHOOL.

Awards presentation and party

Short course awards are given out around 11 am in the Stowe High School cafeteria.

All entrants are invited to the awards party at around 3pm The Rusty Nail. Results and prizes will be handed out and a video of the race will be shown on a 20 foot screen, the largest in New England! Food will be served for all of the competitors. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.

Race starting times

• Long Course/ Skating Race - 10 am. Groups of 5 start every 30 seconds.

• Long Course/ Classical Race - 12 noon. Groups of 5 start every 30 seconds.

• Derby Meister racers receive start times in both disciplines.

Start times are assigned according to bib number. Please allow one hour for riding Lookout Lift to start.

• Short course - 9 am Mass Start. Rec Path parking lot next to the Alpenrose Motel.

Course rules

• Race time is counted from the moment your bib number is started whether you are there or not.

• Competitors must use the same pair of skis for the entire race - except for Derby Meister who can change skis between races. FIS rules apply to broken skis & poles.

• Skating only allowed in Skating Race.

Prizes

Numerous and exciting as always! Prizes are awarded to top 3 finishers in each age category. A Concept 2 Indoor Rower will be given away to one lucky racer at the awards party. Attendance required.

Also provided

• Bibs will allow racers one ride up the Mt. Mansfield Lookout chairlift the morning of the race.

• Plastic ID bags are provided for warm-up clothes left at the start. Bags will be brought back down to Stowe High School once, after the completion of ALL races.

• A bottle of water at the finish.

• Showers are provided at the Stowe High School gym locker rooms - BRING YOUR OWN TOWELS.

• Cross-country skiers may buy one-ride lift tickets up the Lookout Double the day before the race so that they may practice skiing the Toll Road. Remember to organize your transportation back to Mansfield Base.
